AUGUST 31st DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: The first International Plant Health Conference (IPHC) September 21-23, London

The first ever conference of its kind will be hosted by the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) of the United Kingdom.  

IGTC will lead a side event on September 21 along with the WTO’s Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF), the International Grains Council (IGC), and the International Seed Federation (ISF). The title of the Side Event will be: “Supporting food security through international grain and seed trade and investment”. 

Panel sessions listed on the agenda (here) will be organised around three main topics:

  1. Food Security
  2. Environmental Protection
  3. Safe Trade

National and regional governments leading the panel sessions include: African Union, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Egypt, EU, France, Guam, Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Thailand, UK, USA.

Regional Plant Protection Organisations (RPPOS) will also take the floor, including from the Caribbean, Europe, Mediterranean, Near East and the Pacific.

Key note speakers on Day 1 of the Conference include Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
