IGTC attends IGC Market Conditions Committee, London

The IGTC will be present at the Market Conditions Committee of the International Grains Council (IGC) in London this Friday, 9 September, in order to update government representatives and stakeholders on "Current Developments in Policy and Trade Practice".

The purpose of the IGC's Market Conditions Committee is to keep grain markets under close review, providing independent analysis and opportunities to evaluate gain markets in the short and medium term.

The International Grains Council is an intergovernmental organisation of 27 member governments that seeks to:

  • Further international cooperation in grains trade;
  • Promote expansion, openness and fairness in the grains sector;
  • Contribute to grain market stability and to enhance world food security.

As an IGC official 'Observer', the IGTC's timely briefing (supporting document here) will focus on two upcoming meetings:

  1. IPPC Expert Working Group (EWG) on a new International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) on grain, 19-24 September, Melbourne.
  2. Conference of the Parties (COP) and meeting of the Parties (MOP) to the Cartagena and Nagoya Protocols,  4-17 December 2016, CancĂșn, Mexico.
