IGTC in action

Outreach in Eastern Africa

The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is hosting the IGTC Secretariat for two weeks in their Nairobi offices, offering the chance to build relationships and collaborate on grain trade priorities. In addition, the IGTC took the stage to make a key note speech at the EAGC Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, 20 April alongside the World Bank, Kenyan Government officials, and grain trade leaders from the entire region.

The EAGC is the IGTC’s foremost association member in Eastern Africa, covering Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Burundi, Tanzania and South Sudan, and will soon expand beyond into Ethiopia, the DRC and Zambia. The EAGC is leading a number of business-critical initiatives in the region, including the ‘Business-2-Business’ fora, which allow producers and companies to come together to collaborate on market discovery and contracts. In April, the Ethiopia B2B event took place, resulting in the signature of 51 contracts of 275,000MT among 50 buyers from 6 countries and 40 sellers from Ethiopia.
