IGTC member association outreach: Mumbai and Indore, India

Flag of India

As part of its 2017 outreach programme, the IGTC has visited India to deepen relationships and seek common priorities with its two Indian member associations: Solvent Extractors Association (SEA), and the Soybean Processors Association (SOPA).

This was the IGTC’s first international visit of its kind this year, and included milestone meetings with industry leaders Dr. B V Mehta, Executive Director of SEA, and Mr. D N Pathak, Executive Director of SOPA. Discussions focussed on the IGTC’s mandate, communications strategy, and international policy work. Key issued of interest were agricultural productivity, phytosanitary control, and electronic trading documentation.

While in India the IGTC also had the opportunity to meet Indian government officials on plant protection issues, as well as various government representatives in Delhi, and industry partners such as the Indian Pulse and Grain Association (IPGA).

The IGTC continues to strive for geographical completeness and balance in participation. Upcoming member outreach visits will continue to focus include work with CIARA-CEC (Argentina) in March, and the East African Grain Council (EAGC) in April.
